Love the Day. Love the Moment.

Valentine's Day this year was warm and sunny.  Every year we say we are going to get away from the long grey winter of the Pacific Northwest.

This year we did it!

It all started with a great deal on some tickets through Expedia.com. The next thing you know we are in a taxi leaving the Honolulu airport  heading to Waikiki beach. It is still a bit of a dream to know that a few short weeks ago my main concern of the day was what sunscreen SPF to use.

My first visit to the Hawaiian Islands was back in the 1970s, and I have never tired of the beauty found in this part of planet earth. On a more practical note, I highly recommend taking a taxi to Waikiki beach when you land.  You can always take a shuttle bus departing from Waikiki back to the airport.  There are coupons on every street corner it seems to take advantage of the trip to the airport for $8-$14. The shuttle does stop at several hotels to pick up other homeward bound happy travellers.  It has been my experience that you can pretty much be on the beach by around 2:30pm the same day that you leave the West Coast if you hail a cab when you arrive.  It is about $40US into the Waikiki district.

It is a  known fact that after every full moon the jellyfish come into the beach and you will see red flags with the icon of a person swimming and the shape of a jellyfish underneath.  It has the zap electrical signage to make sure that whatever language you speak - meeting up with a jellyfish can hurt.

Of course every time we are in Hawaii we remind ourselves we should have looked  at a full moon schedule to avoid the jellyfish purge. The jellyfish only remain  for about five days and then go away back to the deep blue water. While we were there the flags came down and we were in the Waikiki beach water every day.

We always reminisce about one of our Waikiki holidays where we were visited by two turtles while enjoying the ocean.  It happened outside the Royal Hawaiian, also known as the Big Pink Hotel.   All of a sudden a large turtle's head poked up out of the water about twenty feet away.  Then another turtle poked its head up out of the water a little farther from the first turtle.  The three of us were yelling and pointing and just amazed that these sea turtles felt so safe to be near us.

You guessed it, of course we could now officially say we - Talked to the Turtle.

On this trip though, we hadn't seen any turtles. We talked with another beach goer while standing on the shoreline about the sanctuary that Waikiki is  for the sea turtles. The holiday goer we were chatting with was quite knowledgeable about the local sea turtles of Honolulu. He informed us  that jellyfish are actually a delicacy for the turtles and so there should have been at least one sighting. The jellyfish flag warnings were down and gone now so maybe the turtles were out swimming in the deep water.

Less then ten minutes after this conversation, I thought I noticed  something in the water about fifty yards away.  Then I saw a group of guys with their Frisbee and what I thought was something was really nothing.

The two of us were in about three feet of water when the turtle showed up.  There was a slight swell of water in front of us and a green sea turtle the size of a cow just glided by in front of us.  It was approximately ten feet away, I could see her breathing and looking at us.  He or she showed us her underside and then her back and the one side of her face that had her eye on us the whole time she glided by.  Honestly if there was a video on the two of us, you would have seen me screaming "look - look"  and my boyfriend totally still with his mouth open in awe.

When I looked back at the beach, nobody had even noticed. Everyone was talking and in their own groove.  Headphones on. Another person rolling over. People walking by us on the shore with the happy slow pace of relaxation. The man who we had just  talked to was nowhere in sight.

I turned around and looked back out to the ocean. Busy Waikiki beach...

We both just stood there in the ocean, quiet.  What was there to say... Then I heard a woman's voice behind me.  I turned as she was making her way  over to us in the water.

"That was a blessing that just happened for you."

That was a turtle blessing....

I said to her.  "So you saw that?  You saw that turtle that was the size of a Volkswagen beetle?"

"Yes, I saw it, she said".  "That was really wonderful."

Then we talked - the three of us.  She told us her story of how her mother had lived in Hawaii for years and passed away just last year.   On her mother's request her ashes were retired into the water off of one of the  Hawaiian Islands, in a water ceremony.

Love the Day.    Love the Moment.

Fun sayings, positive affirmations and powerful quotes:

A house can have integrity, just like a person.

~Ayn Rand  (1905-1982)
  American writer

Live virtuously, my Lord, and you cannot die too soon, nor live too long.

~Rachel Russell (Lady Russell)  (1636-1723)
English noblewoman & wife of William Russell

Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom.

~Theodore Isaac Rubin  (1923 - )
  American psychiatrist and author

This is one of my favorite positive affirmations statements:

Whether you know it or not, today you are placing an order for your tomorrows from the catalogue of the Universe.  Your predominant thoughts and feelings today are creating a frequency that is automatically determining your life tomorrow.

Feel good now and for the rest of the day, and make your tomorrows magnificent.

Rhonda Byrne
Creator of "The Secret"

Here is an excerpt from the book, How to be Rich ~ Compact Wisdom from the World's greatest Wealth-Builders.

Create Wealth, Instead of Competing for it.

Do not believe it when the world tells you to step over others to succeed. Those who practice this will find one day that everyone they know has deserted them. When they call out in anguish and loneliness, no one will hear them.
To consider one's self before all others is to warp every noble and divine impulse. Let your soul expand.  Let your heart reach out to others in loving and generous warmth.  If you do this, your life will have great and lasting joy.  Prosperity will seek you out.
Riches secured by destructive competition are never satisfactory and permanent; they are yours today, and another's tomorrow. Remember, if you are to become rich in a scientific and certain way, you must rise entirely out of the competitive thought.  You must never think for a moment that the supply is limited.
Know that there are countless millions of dollars' worth of treasure in the mountains of the earth, not yet brought to light; and know that if there were not, more would be created from Thinking Substance to supply your needs.

Know that the money you need will come, even if it is necessary for a thousand people to be led to the discovery of new resources tomorrow. Never look at the visible supply; look always at the limitless riches in Divine Substance, and know that they are coming to you as fast as you can receive and use them.  Nobody, by cornering the visible supply, can prevent you from getting what is yours.  So never allow yourself to think for an instant that all the best building spots will be taken before you get ready to build your house, unless you hurry.  Never worry about the conglomerates and cartels, and get anxious for fear they will soon come to own the whole earth.  Never get afraid that you will lose what you want because some other person "beats you to it."   That cannot possibly happen; you are not seeking anything that is possessed by anybody else; you are causing what you want to be created from Divine Substance, and the supply is without limits.

When your A & B story of inner beauty meet

With a good movie or any story telling for that matter typically there is an A story and a B story to follow.  Sometimes when we are caught up in our day to day reactions we forget that we too are  creating these stories in our own lives.  As in the  movies at some point the two stories come together and may stay together or branch off again in other directions.  I guess the classic example is of a story of big business as the  A story and the B story is a world of romance and love. As  viewers,  we get to see how these two opposite worlds are really  interwoven with each other through the actors from the very start.  We just simply do  not see it at first and then piece by piece we  are invited to the reveal of the true beauty of the complete story.

I see now that last  fall I  I had my own two stories that appeared to be totally unrelated and yet the events were rather intertwined.

I started to do a repair on a necklace project I had begun a couple of years ago.  It was not so much a repair as I actually started a pearl necklace and did not finish it.  I thought it was time to stop staring at that bag I had tucked away not really wanting to do it because I didn't think there was going to be anything spectacular about the necklace.  Initially the necklace was for me  to work on some technique. I had already starting stringing the pearls when  I discovered  some loose labradorite beads the same size as the black pearls and I thought that I would put them on the strand as well.

At this same time last fall I also took part in an online chakra course  created by Carol Tuttle.   I have not had a lot of exposure to chakras other than a healing chakra meditation CD that I listened to back in  early 2000.  I used that CD to help me calm my system on my lengthy road back to recovery of my health.
Acquiring this CD  was one of those situations in a book store where I asked the clerk for some help and this is what was suggested to me.

I actually still use it from time to time and I highly recommend it.

I  learned a lot from Carol Tuttle's chakra course -  it was extremely informative.
This spring I plan on sharing my understandings of the chakras from this course in my posts.  What I found most  interesting was the gems that corresponded with each chakra.  All the gemstones  that were brought up as the main healing gems were gems that I have paired up with my Feng Shui necklaces and then most recently my purse charms.
With each class I opened I became aware that using just my pure sense of picking gems and with  no guidance or clues, I managed to choose all the gems that are known to enhance the subtle energy arena of our chakra system.

I sat back in my chair and thought to myself: wow, I wonder how I managed to do that?

So back to my necklace story.  I am just merrily throwing beads on the strand necklace for myself and then on a whim I add a turquoise gemstone for the focal point just for pure pleasure. . Just one gem. It looked stunning against the black pearls and labradorite beads.  When I got the fifth chakra class and read that turquoise was one of the healing gems, I looked at my necklace and kind of smiled.

The following week I was relaxing and day dreaming and thinking about the chakras and my gems and then I remembered I had some jade beads.   I made another strand necklace up and this time I used a citrine gem stone as the single stone.  It was even more beautiful than the first one I made up.  I wore it the next day and a friend commented on my necklace.  She actually asked to try it on.  I thought that was kind of interesting.  It is such a simple statement of a strand necklace. However it was what she said that stuck in my mind.  She said it "Feels really good on" and her parting words were: "Let me know when you make some more up".

Time marches forward and Christmas has now come and gone.  I have not made any necklaces but I have this solid idea.  I  am not sure how I missed that I had all this beautiful inventory of gemstones and that I could not think of what to do with them all because I had set them aside for the Feng Shui inspired group.  I still am not completely sure either what will happen with some  editing decisions if I like this design.  I am going to make a few necklaces up and test them on my new Etsy site shop that I launched this month.

In my newest creation, two completely different directions of action and thought were actually meant to meet each other.  The opportunity was just sitting there waiting to happen.   So now I am collecting some new findings and some thread and I am really excited.  I realize that  I am only talking about a simple necklace that feels good to wear but for me to have movement at all is really a story  in itself.

I can see the necklaces finished in my mind's eye and I am moving fast  to get the supplies to create them.  However I have a few obstacles with the day to day obligations in my  life and so I am not  able to find the amount of time to work out the perfections that I am so particular about. I find that there are setbacks and I am a little frustrated that it is taking me so long to get such a short distance.

I can see where I'm supposed to get to and you would think it would be a lot faster.

I will get there.. I am enthusiastic...

I came upon this video with this turtle focused on his destination.  It kind of sizes up how I am feeling about my own self getting to this necklace creation destination.

Imagine the special present of self acceptance

It is  really amazing to see a special part of my life wrapped all up in one snapshot.  Truly a picture is worth a thousand words.  I chose  the above picture to start the New Year of 2013  in an effort to share what is going on with  my creative process. I also wanted to touch on how  I am working with my own self discovery so I can  continue to be happy from moment to moment no matter what is going on in my life.   I do feel in these accelerated times that by sharing our stories we learn from one another.  I also believe that if we can imagine it we can be it and we can do it.

This picture  of me is on January 15th 2000 in San Diego in the home of Louise Hay, Founder of Hay House Publishing.  That is Terah Kathryn Collins the founder of the Western School of Feng Shui on my left.  I guess you can tell by that mile wide  grin on my face that I am  pretty much out of my body drifting around in happiness.  The event was the Graduating Class party of WSFS 2000.

The graduation dinner party for my small class  was a surprise event.  On the last day Terah made an announcement that we were going to be having our graduation celebration dinner at Louise's house. Everyone was really happy.

Louise Hay as it turns out was a gardening buddy of Terah's in San Diego.  Terah was studying Feng Shui and Louise suggested that she start documenting her consultations.  The rest  you can say is a successful serendipitous long standing relationship between Terah Kathryn Collins and Louise Hay.

When  I found out that we were going to Louise Hay's house for our graduation party I ran back to my room to breathe deeply. I asked myself:  could it be the same Louise Hay who authored the book, Heal your Body that I had personally read.  I worked with  her affirmations for the emotional repair and  metaphysical healing of my bell's palsy. I still own it.  I have bought it for gifts as well.

The night of our graduation party was pretty much a blur. I  was  speechless when I met Louise.  All I could do was smile.   She was so gracious with all of us by opening  her house and showing us  how Terah had  Feng Shui'd her space of course. I had my classmates take pictures of me almost everywhere:  standing by the gong, sitting in the garden, and in the living room. Honestly it was like that Travelocity ad with the gnome showing up in every single shot.  They are my private keepsakes -  very special to only me.

Louise Hay's generous spirit made my association with the Western School of Feng Shui a very special affiliation.  I did manage to blurt out to Louise and Terah that I was going to do something really good with all my new learned knowledge.  I meant that sincerely from my deepest part. I felt that I should be making some big mark on society for the betterment of my fellow mankind.  You may be laughing when you  read this, but that is how seriously I took my commitment to do good deeds and help others understand the beauty of living a life of harmony with our surroundings.

A lot of time has passed by with the research and development into my inner self.
I discovered that Feng Shui was just a part of the mix.  I realized that there is no outer without an inner first.   I look back over the last twelve years now and I feel that maybe I let Louise and Terah down.  I thought I would have left a bigger footprint of success than I have. I only got as far as creating my charms for positive thinking and I didn't get any further than that.

So before I completely fall off the bridge of happiness into self rejection I have done  two things. The first  was to look myself in the mirror and say the following.  "I am aware that I am judging myself and I embrace myself with loving compassion."

The second thing I did was get really quiet and go back to the basics. I looked at the non directional Feng Shui of my space. I  got a can of paint, (o.k. I got my boyfriend to get a can of paint) and he painted my studio wall for me.  It sits in the wealth section using non directional Feng Shui.  It was all I could do.  Then I waited.

I have learnt this myself over the years of working with people - sometimes the need is to get physical like painting a wall or rearranging your furniture. The other quotient is to be still and reflective and pray.

What is it that you can do to make a subtle shift in your life? Use my experience to discover your own. Find one corner of your home and change it.

I woke up a few days later with the thought that I should write about  my creative process of  how I am going to explore and reinvent my entrepreneurial pursuits.

That is as far as I have got.

As things of coincidence often happen I  found this video of Louise and her offerings for Emotional Freedom Technique.
I have written about EFT before and have used the technique myself.  However I really have never had such amazing relief as when I used  Louise's slant on it.  The only way I have used EFT is to identify a painful emotion or situation and to tap the emotion from a scale of 1 thru 10 to reduce the pain to a 2 or 3.

It always left me feeling  relieved but kind of like I'd just stepped off the bus without any directions.  Used properly EFT is very beneficial.

This is such a beautiful example of how Louise Hay takes a concept and finishes it with the positive.  What a great way to start off the year. For the Chinese it is the Year of the Water Snake.  A year for waiting your turn and then  making correct fast decisions. Not a wishy washy year at all.

I think if you bookmark this video of Louise and then read more on EFT you will find that it is a valuable technique for self discovery and relief of emotional pain.  This video is just four minutes of the longer 24 min version on You Tube. Here is the link: Louise Hay 24/min EFT.

More importantly I feel that this edited video of four minutes is like a picture which explains the overall concept of how to use EFT beautifully.

This is one of my favorite positive affirmations statements:

Begin your day by feeling grateful.  Be grateful for the bed you just slept in, the roof over your head, the carpet or floor under your feet, the running water, the soap, your shower, your toothbrush, your clothes, your shoes, the refrigerator that keeps your food cold, the car that you drive, your job, your friends.
Be grateful for the stores that make it so easy to buy the things you need, the restaurants, the utilities, services and electrical appliances that make your life effortless.  Be grateful for the magazines and the books that you read.  Be grateful for the chair that you sit on, and the pavement that you walk on. Be grateful for the weather, the sun, the sky, the birds, the trees, the grass, the rain and the flowers.

Thank you, thank you thank you!

Here is an excerpt from Deepak Chopra  M.D. book, Creating Affluence~Wealth Consciousness in the Field of all Possibilities

"Z" stands for zest for life. It is to appreciate life in all its vitality and exuberance.  It is to know that there is only one life that expresses itself in myriad forms.  To see that life is to know that power is in the present moment.  It is to know that I am that, that you are that, that all this is that, and that's all there is.
Tagore once said, "The same stream of life that runs through the world runs through my veins night and day and dances in rhythmic measure.  It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth into numberless blades of grass and breaks into tumultuous waves of flowers."
He calls this "the life throb of ages, dancing in my blood this moment."  To be in touch with this life throb of ages dancing in our blood this moment, is to have zest for life.  It is to face the unknown with carefreeness and freedom.  The unknown is the field of all possibilities in every moment of the present.  And this is freedom, beyond the known of past conditioning, beyond the prison of space, time, and causation.  As Don Juan once said to Carlos Castaneda,  "It does not matter what our specific fate is, as long as we face it with ultimate abandon."  This is carefreeness.  This is joy.  This is freedom.  This is zest for life.

The Beatles - All You Need is Love...

A lovely quote by author Louise L. Hay ~ an excerpt from her book,Heart Thoughts.

Many of you start new year resolutions on the first of the year, but because you don't make internal changes, the resolutions fall away very quickly.  Until you make the inner changes and are willing to do some mental work, nothing out there is going to change.  The only thing you need to change is a thought-only a thought. Even self-hatred is only hating a thought you have about yourself.  What can you do for yourself this year in a positive way?  What would you like to do for yourself this year that you did not do for yourself last. year?  What would you like to let go of this year, that you clung to so tightly last year?  What would you like to change in your life?  Are you willing to do the work that will bring about those changes?

Go for the Joy.  Make that your motto this year:
GO FOR JOY!       LIFE IS HERE FOR YOU TO ENJOY TODAY!

Power of Intention

With the winter days just recently passing their shortest daylight hours the forward looking enjoyment of longer days is now something to anticipate.   Living within the rhythm of our planet earth is really a humbling special experience when I take the time  to ponder. Half of the year the northern part of our planet earth's geography  is basking in the sun's rays of spring summer and fall.  The other half of the year we are shown the quietness and solitude of darkness with limited daylight.

It is a wonderful time to light your house up with the celebration of gratitude and also a welcome time to reflect over the year's events.  How can I know how far I have come if I do not take the time to see where I have been.  It is within this question of reflection that I found myself revisiting the work of Dr. Wayne Dyer

I remember in 2004 when Dr. Wayne Dyer's PBS special, The Power of Intention was aired on TV.    My boyfriend was watching it with me and very patiently listening as  I was going on and on about the placement of the lights on the stage.
"Don't you see that someone has done some energy work and the stage  space has been cleared?"

"All I see is a really pleasing set design." he replied.

"Well I can see it and I can feel it." I thought to myself quietly...

That is all I  pretty much remember about the Power of Intention broadcast.

To re-visit this broadcast in video form was actually kind of interesting to me because it created a milestone factor. It offered me a reflection of what I could hear and see where I was eight years ago.

To explain this  another way: two people take a class and at the end of it share their notes.  What they will discover and I share this with you through my own life experience, is both individuals  will have different notes.

One person would have heard certain things that the other was not able to download.  These personal findings still amaze me and is my personal  "why"  I write about all of us finding our own way, and never giving up.

So this is my big Why question to you.  Where were you in 2004?  What is the difference in your happiness quotient between then and now.  Are you running ahead?  Are you backing up?  Maybe  you have indeed found the rhythm of your own path...

Dr. Wayne Dyer, video: The Power of Intention pt. 2

May the New Year of 2013 be filled with all of us finding our own special instrument and voice of happiness.
